Griffin Burris
Program Development, Strategic Priorities, Fundraising
Griffin is a fundraising and organizational leader with a deep commitment to helping mission-driven institutions build financial resilience in ways that are authentic, personal, and sustainable. Over the course of a decade-long career, he has supported nonprofit and faith-based organizations through periods of growth, transition, and strategic change, helping translate vision into durable financial and operational outcomes.
His professional journey reflects uncommon breadth across ministry, healthcare, education, and nonprofit leadership. Griffin previously lived as a professed religious of the Order of Premontre, served as Director of Development for a Catholic missionary society, worked as a chaplain at the Mayo Clinic, and taught history at a Catholic high school. These experiences shaped a grounded, relational approach to leadership and philanthropy, informed by both institutional complexity and close accompaniment with people in moments of need.
In 2023, Griffin founded Burris Consulting to support organizations in aligning fundraising strategy, communications, and organizational performance. His work draws on experience with large-scale campaigns, leadership giving, governance, and operations, and is guided by a belief that effective fundraising is rooted in trust, clarity, and genuine relationship.
Growing up in Northeast Wisconsin, Griffin spent his winters as a professional snowmobile racer, earning three class-division world championships, an experience that instilled discipline, resilience, and focus from an early age. His earliest nonprofit involvement was with Safe Haven Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Shelter, where years of service were recognized with the organization’s Service Ribbon.
Griffin has presented at the University of Notre Dame’s Center for Social Concerns on the work of Jacques Maritain and served as a panelist for the Chicago Council on Planned Giving’s annual symposium on authentic storytelling and representation. A lifelong learner, he enjoys golfing, cycling, and preparing French meals for friends and family.
